It’s the perfect recipe for a binge-watching night, a viewing party with friends, or simply to get you in the mood for the Upside Down.
For the ingredients…
Let’s start with the ingredients for homemade pizza dough (1 large pizza):
- 250g flour
- 1/2 packet dry baker’s yeast (or 8g fresh yeast)
- 150ml lukewarm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Next, for the filling, you will need:
- 150g tomato sauce
- 200g mozzarella (grated)
- 6 to 8 slices of pepperoni or chorizo
- A few black olives
- Oregano
- Optional: pesto rosso, hot sauce, or red food coloring
Let’s get started with the preparation!
Preparation of the dough:
Step 1: Activate the yeast
In a bowl, mix the lukewarm water and yeast. Leave to rest for 10 minutes: small bubbles should appear.
Step 2: Form the dough
In a mixing bowl, pour in the flour, add the salt, olive oil, and activated yeast. Mix with a wooden spoon, then knead for 5 to 8 minutes until you have a soft, slightly sticky dough.
Step 3: Rest (let the magic happen)
Form a ball, cover with a cloth, and let rest for 1 hour. The dough should double in size, a bit like a creature ready to emerge from the Upside-Down.
Preparation of the Demogorgon pizza
Step 1: Give the monster its shape
Roll out the risen dough into a disc. Using a knife, make 4 to 5 cuts from the edges toward the center, like petals. These will be the Demogorgon’s “jaws.”
Step 2: Add generous toppings
- Spread the tomato sauce.
- Add the mozzarella.
- Place the pepperoni slices in the center to mimic the flesh of the monster’s mouth.
Step 3: Open the Demogorgon’s mouth
Fold the “petals” slightly outward to accentuate the carnivorous flower effect.
Step 4: Add the creepy details
- Use olive pieces to create sinister teeth.
- Place a whole olive in the center to create an organic eye.
- Add a little oregano for a touch of “Hawkins herbs.”
Step 5: Baking
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 410°F.
The pizza should be golden brown, crispy around the edges, and terrifying to look at.
